Becky Nunes was born in England, arriving in Aotearoa/New Zealand with a BFA(Hons) in film and literature from Warwick University. She is Head of Department for photography at Whitecliffe College, Auckland and is a founding member of photography collective, Tangent.
A respected commercial and editorial photographer, Becky has worked with numerous publishers, designers and advertising agencies. Her images have won awards and been published locally, as well as, overseas.
In 2008, Becky made over 50 portraits for the significant publication, “Mau Moko -The world of Maori tattoo” published by Penguin NZ. This body of work has subsequently been shown internationally.
Becky has worked closely with the Tainuiu iwi to photograph the architecture and objects of the Kingiitanga collection, as well as to make portraits of iwi members. Her work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions and is held in several private collections.
In 2012 Becky was a finalist in the national Wallace Art Awards. In 2014 her work was accepted into the Te Tuhi billboard programme of exhibitions.
